a turning point
For teens in foster and kinship care, life often feels uncertain and heavy with challenges most young people never face. Our camp is a place where that weight begins to lift. It’s more than a getaway-it’s a safe, nurturing community where teens are reminded of their worth, discover their strengths, and begin to see a future filled with possibility.
At camp, teens experience:
- Belonging-Surrounded by peers who share similar journeys, campers realize they are not alone.
- Confidence-Through activities, team challenges, and encouragement, they discover what they are capable of achieving.
- Hope-Our caring and trained volunteers speak life into each teen, inspiring them to rise above the hardships of their past.
This time away provides space for healing, laughter and growth. Camp becomes a turning point-where teens can celebrate who they are, gain new skills, and build relationships that last far beyond a campfire.

Why Mentoring matters
The teenage years are a critical crossroads-full of big choices, changing identities and the desire to belong. For youth in foster and kinship care, this season can feel even more overwhelming as they navigate life with few consistent guides by their side.
Mentoring matters because it provides what every teen needs most: a trusted, caring adult they will spend time with each month who believes in them.

“I went to all three years of camp and it gave me a picture of what my life could look like. I could be playing catch, I could be going on a giant swing with friends…just be a kid at heart.
Camp really helped heal some of my childhood wounds. I wanted to be goof…I wanted to play. It opened the door to not always having to act like an adult but instead just be a kid. My experience at camp and the impact it’s had on my life is the reason why I give back and volunteer.”

“Royal Family Kids Camp is such an impactful program that creates a safe and loving environment for kids who’ve been through tough situations. Allowing them to just be kids! I continue to serve because I want to be someone who consistently shows up, listens, and reminds them they’re valued.
Mentoring and Camp TrUSt are programs that allow us to continue to see and support our kids and teens. Creating consistency and relationships that last a lifetime. Being a part of these programs means getting to see the kids grow into resilient teens and adults. Making lasting impacts on everyone!”
